[WATCH] Limpopo nurses march for the removal of Health MEC

Young Nurses Indaba Trade Union (YNITU) calls for the immediate removal of Dr Phophi Ramathuba as the Limpopo Health MEC saying she has dismally failed the health department in the province.

POLOKWANE – Union members have gathered at the park opposite SABC on Landros Mare Street and plan to march to the MEC’s offices to hand over a memorandum of grievances.

The march which was scheduled to start at 09:00 has been postponed for 12:00 to accommodate members travelling from outside the provinces. One of the items of the memorandum is the absorption of 450 nurses that are being released by the department after completing their community service.

Makerei Monnye, the provincial convener says that it does not make sense why nurses would be released by the department when there is already a shortage of nurses.

“We are already short staffed and over worked.”
