‘Be a buddy not a bully’

Following the death of Thorisho Kgomo, the stabbing of two learners from Hoƫrskool Noordeland as well as other incidents of violence, five residents have banded together to work on changing the mindset about bullying in the city.

POLOKWANE – ‘Enough is enough’, is the message of a newly formed anti-bullying campaign in Polokwane.

Following the death of Thorisho Kgomo, the stabbing of two learners from Hoƫrskool Noordeland as well as other incidents of violence, five residents have banded together to work on changing the mindset about bullying in the city.

Lize Botha (36), Tiwhan Botha (13), Tukishi ‘TriggaSA The Greatest’ Sithole (19), Godfrey ‘K-Slash’ Moloto (29) and Angelique Faul (22) say they would like to change not only the mindset of learners but adults too. The group are currently embarking on a school campaign, which they say was well supported, where they will be speaking to learners about bullying.

“Our plan is to visit schools in the city and around Limpopo with our vision to create the most effective anti-bullying movement in the province, by changing the way we look at one another as individuals. ‘I see you and I accept you for who you are.’ To make this a successful programme, we need everybody to take hands, unite and get along without bullying one another,” Lize explained.

Each individual brings their own uniqueness and talent to the campaign with Lize, the reigning Mrs Limpopo Mzantsi Africa 2019 at the helm.

Despite its inception, the group still don’t have a name and want to get the community involved in picking a name.

The naming of the group is currently running on their Facebook page, 20/20 Vision, and will run until the end of February. The group has called on creative minds in Polokwane to help them select a name and spread their message.
