POLOKWANE – Technicians from the Polokwane Municipality are working on restoring electricity supply to parts of Westenburg, Ivydale plots and Meropa Casino and Entertainment World after a contractor accidentally damaged overhead cables in the Westenburg area.
According to Thipa Selala, spokesperson for the municipality, two transformers were damaged after a contractor’s truck accidentally knocked over the overhead cables on Grand Canyon Street.
Selala says power supply to all the areas including Westenburg will be restored soon. “Residents in Sloth street will however remain without electricity supply until tomorrow morning due to the extent of damage on their supply line.”
He added that residents in the affected areas are advised to treat all electrical wiring as live to avoid damage and injury during this period.
