Don’t get cold feet, donate blood this June
Less than 1% of South Africans are active blood donors and with the added onslaught of the dreaded runny nose, coughing and body aches, the number of people who donate regularly, is dwindling.

Winter months are synonymous with cold weather, colds and flu.
According to the SANBS, less than 1% of South Africans are active blood donors and with the added onslaught of the dreaded runny nose, coughing and body aches, donor numbers are dwindling.
Unfortunately, the number of people who need blood does not change and therefore the organisation urges all healthy donors to continue donating blood.
A unit of blood only lasts 42 days after donation and it is therefore important for blood donors to donate regularly, the organisation says.
The SANBS has made the process more convenient for donors by hosting clinics throughout the city and surrounding areas.
