Murder case of Samwu members postponed to September

The court heard that two murder dockets and one of intimidation in the case related to the VBS Mutual Bank saga have been submitted to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for a decision.

LIMPOPO – The case against Thabo Sibanze (27), who faces two charges of murder and the intimidation of two Samwu members last year, has been postponed to 30 September by the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court last Monday.

The court heard that two murder dockets and one of intimidation in the case related to the VBS Mutual Bank saga have been submitted to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for a decision. The cases against Sibanze was postponed to give the DPP sufficient time to reflect on whether the case should go ahead.

One of the murder charges relates to the killing of a local Samwu leader, Ronald Mani and member Timpson Musetsho, both of whom were instrumental in fighting corruption in the Vhembe District Municipality. The Chairperson of the Moral Regeneration Movement in Limpopo, Tshenuwani Farisani has been following the case from the first day.

“The cases have taken very long to conclude. We hoped that it would have been settled by now, but with the lockdown we understand the extension,” he said.
