Limpopo entrepreneur wins at SA Agricultural Awards

Limpopo entrepreneur Edward Kgarose, founder of Kgarose Kgaros, was named a winner at the South African Agricultural Awards 2026.

POLOKWANE – Following many profiles and articles done by the Polokwane Observer on Edward Kgarose since 2017, he has always been pushing, succeeding, and is currently named a winner at the South African Agricultural Awards 2026.

Kgarose is known in Limpopo as an award-winning entrepreneur and founder of Kgarose Kgaros, a food manufacturing business known for pioneering sweet potato-based yoghurt and dairy alternatives (such as Pota Yoga).

The prestigious awards ceremony took place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on October 16, celebrating excellence and outstanding contributions within South Africa’s agricultural sector.

Recognising impact in agriculture

Kgarose was announced as a winner at the event, which was sponsored by AgriSETA. The South African Agricultural Awards recognise individuals who have made a meaningful impact in agriculture, through hard work, dedication and commitment to growing the industry.

Kgarose’s win places him among the country’s leading agricultural achievers for 2026, and highlights the important role played by farmers and agricultural workers in driving food security, rural development and economic growth.

Expressing his gratitude for the honour, Kgarose said he was thankful for the recognition and for the support he has received along his journey.

“I am truly grateful for this award. I am thankful to everyone who has supported me, and to the Polokwane Observer, which profiled me and my business in 2017 and has continued to follow my journey up to today. This recognition means a lot to me.”

His achievement has been celebrated as a proud moment for his community and for the agricultural sector at large.

The South African Agricultural Awards organisers congratulated Kgarose on this well-deserved recognition.

Anne Mametja

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
