4 die in accident near Lebowakgomo
Reckless driving has been deemed a possible cause for the accident.
LIMPOPO – An accident this afternoon on the R579 at Sepanapudi near Lebowakgomo, has resulted in the death of four people.
The Department of Transport and Community Safety said in a statement that two sedans collided head-on.

“Preliminary investigations suggest speeding and reckless driving as the possible cause of the accident. The deceased include the drivers and passengers from both vehicles,” said Mike Maringa, departmental media liaison officer.
Police Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed that the police in Lebowakgomo have opened a case of culpable homicide.
“Three of the deceased, a male and two females, were travelling in a red sedan and the other deceased was alone in the other sedan. The ident of all deceased are unknown at this stage,” Mojapelo said in a statement.
He added that investigations into the cause of the accident and the process of identifying the deceased are ongoing.
Transport and Community Safety MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya urged motorists to drive with caution and observe the rules of the road.
