SA sees an increase of 8 735 new cases

81 999 people have recovered, which translates to 48,8%

The National Department of Health confirmed 8 735 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total cases to 168 061 and 81 999 recoveries, which translates to 48,8%. According to the department, 39 188 tests were conducted, 892 129 in the private sector and 813 998 in the public sector. The department sent condolences to the families of the 95 people who died of Covid-19, this brings the total number of deaths to 2 844 with a mortality rate of 1,7%. Eastern Cape (12), Gauteng (38), KwaZulu-Natal (16) and the Western Cape (29).
