Illicit cigarettes: Actor, 2 accomplices granted bail
Four men and a woman who were arrested yesterday for dealing in illicit cigarettes, appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court today.
POLOKWANE – The 44-year-old soapie actor, who was arrested by the Limpopo Hawks yesterday for trading illicit cigarettes, as well as three other men and a woman appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court earlier today following their arrest by members of the Hawks in Limpopo yesterday.
The arrest was the result of a tip-off about suspects who were selling illicit cigarettes at the Polokwane taxi rank.

The Hawks Provincial Spokesperson, Capt Matimba Maluleke, yesterday said 45 cartons of Remington Gold cigarettes to the value of R12 000 as well as R9 681 in cash were confiscated.
Three of the men were granted R1 000 bail, according to a statement by Maluleke. He said they will appear in court again on 5 October.
Maluleke added that a charge of contravening the Immigration Act was added to the other two suspects’ charge sheets. They will stay in custody until 17 July.
