Loadshedding to be implemented at noon

The power utility said this is due to a decrease of 3 000 MW of capacity.

POLOKWANE – Eskom has announced that stage 2 loadshedding will come into affect today at 12:00 as a result of an increase in plant breakdowns.

Eskom said in a statement this is because 3 000 MW of capacity has been removed from the system.

“The delayed return to service of a generation unit at the Duvha power station, has also added significant pressure to the generation system,” the statement reads.

Eskom added that two units at the Arnot power station, as well as a unit each at Kendal, Tutuka and Majuba were taken off the grid.

Eskom said loadshedding will be implemented until 22:00 tonight and urged the public to reduce electricity usage between 16:00 and 22:00, so that the need to implement loadshedding is prevented.
