Electricity to Bendor will be restored by early afternoon, says muni

This follows yet another cable theft incident in the area.

POLOKWANE – Parts of Bendor are once again without electricity after yet another cable theft incident on the junction of Vharanani and Diemeer streets. This is the third cable theft incident in the area since the start of July. Areas affected include Debron Estate, Faranani Estate and Casa Acasia.

Municipal Spokesperson, Thipa Selala says the electrical team is currently working on restoring power supply to the affected areas. “Power supply will be restored once the cable has been replaced.The estimated restoration time is around 14:00.”

In the meantime, residents in the affected areas are advised to treat all electrical wiring as live. “Switch off all appliances during this time to avoid injury and damage once power supply is restored,” Selala concluded.

Cable theft remains an issue in the city and Selala encouraged residents to assist the municipality and report incidents of cable theft to the municipal call centre at (015) 023 5490/5705 or 087 350 2770.
