1 dead, 8 injured in incident on R555

Reports suggests one of the drivers tried to drive away after knocking down a pedestrian.

LIMPOPO – The Department of Community Safety’s Spokesperson, Mike Maringa, says one person has died following an incident on the R555 Mokwete road outside Jane Furse in the Sekhukhune district.

A bakkie and a combi collided head-on and eight people sustained injuries, Maringa added.

“It is alleged that one of the drivers was trying to escape after he had knocked down a pedestrian. He then collided head on with the other vehicle and died instantly. Eight people from the taxi escaped with minor injuries,” Maringa concluded.
