Limpopo welcomes 233 New Year’s bundles of joy

The Mopani district recorded the most births (66)

LIMPOPO – The Limpopo Health Department announced that 233 New Year’s babies were welcomed into the world on Friday, 1 January.

Of the 233 babies; 120 are girls and 113 are boys.

Two baby girls were the first to be delivered in the province.

A 29-year-old mother gave birth to a baby girl at Ellisras Hospital at 00:00. She was delivered normally and weighed 2,12 kg.

At Lebowakgomo Hospital, a 32-year-old mother gave birth to a baby girl who weighed 2,63 kg.

Breakdown:

• Vhembe: 26 boys and 22 girls = 48 babies.

• Sekhukhune: Nine boys and 16 girls = 25 babies.

• Mopani: 36 boys and 30 girls = 66 babies.

• Waterberg: 16 boys and 14 girls = 30 babies.

• Capricorn: 26 boys and 38 girls= 64 babies.

The department indicated that there were 27 teenager pregnancies, of which the youngest was a 15-year-old in the Mopani district.
