#Justice4TshepoMakola – Murder accused abandons bail application

Tshepo Daisy Makola (30) was stabbed to death during an incident in the Westenburg policing area on Tuesday, 9 February. The accused was arrested two days later.

POLOKWANE -The accused in the murder of 30-year-old Tshepo Daisy Makola, abandoned his bail application during his latest court appearance.

The 37-year-old suspect reappeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 25 February and his case was postponed to 31 March for further police investigation. Makola was stabbed to death during an incident in Extension 44 in the Westenburg policing area on Tuesday, 9 February.

Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the Spokesperson for the Police in the Limpopo earlier explained that the police were notified about the incident, reacted swiftly and arrived on the scene to find the deceased in a pool of blood. Investigations indicate that she was stabbed by an ex-partner during an apparent argument.

A case of murder was opened and a manhunt launched for the accused.  He was arrested two days later in Tshikombani village outside Thohoyandou, during a intelligence-driven operation.

The motive behind this incident is not clear at this stage but domestic violence has not be ruled out.

At the time, Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Genl Nneke Ledwaba welcomed the arrest and attributed the breakthrough in the case to the intensive investigations by a dedicated team of detectives from the Saps Provincial Investigating Unit, Thohoyandou Crime Intelligence Unit and the Saps Siloam Detective.
