Muni: Reservoir levels low due to power dips

Most high lying areas are without water and the municipality urges residents to use water sparingly.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality appeals to residents to use water sparingly due to the deteriorating level of the reservoirs in the city.

“Most high lying areas are without water due to low reservoir levels. This is due to power dips experienced at the Sand River North boreholes and at the Ebenezer Scheme,” said Thipa Selala, Municipal Spokesperson.

He added that loadshedding at the Sand River North boreholes affected water supply to the areas of Ladanna, Nirvana, parts of Bendor and central business district (CBD).

“The Ebenezer Scheme also experienced power dips that affected supply to areas within the Polokwane Municipality.”

Selala said that Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) indicated that the Greater Tzaneen Municipality has been notified about these challenges and asked for urgent intervention.
