Bus crash outside Polokwane leaves one dead

A bus driver was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Pietersburg Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.

POLOKWANE – The police in Polokwane are investigating a case of culpable homicide following a fatal crash on the N1 north of Polokwane.

The incident happened at around 21:-15 on Saturday, 13 March and involved a Scania bus and a light delivery vehicle.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport, Matomi Moremi-Taueatsoala said the vehicles collided head-on on the N1-27 near ZZ2 turnoff.

“A 51-year-old man, the driver of the LDV was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the bus sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.”

The exact cause of the collision will be determined through further investigation.
