Water supply issues must be reported, says muni
Most areas within Polokwane municipal area experiencing water supply challenges, says muni
Power dips and loadshedding at the Ebenezer Scheme have negatively affected reservoir levels with the Polokwane municipal area.
Thipa Selala, Spokesperson for the Polokwane Municipality says reservoir levels are very low and have not shown any sign of improvement since Tuesday, 9 March. “Since Tuesday, 9 March the Ebenezer Plant has been experiencing power supply challenges on a daily basis. This has left most of the reservoirs in the city at 0% full and Seshego reservoir below 10%.”
He added that parts of the central business district (CBD), Nirvana, high lying areas of Sterpark, Bendor, Flora Park and Serala View, and areas from Segwashi to Mankweng are experiencing water supply issues.
“The municipality will continue to use water tankers to provide temporary relief to affected areas as continuous power outages continue to have a negative impact on reservoir levels.”
Meanwhile, residents are advised to use water sparingly. Areas experiencing shortage are urged to contact municipal water and sanitation call centre at 015 023 5376 / 5629.
