Youth Day fun walk to promote healthy living

A group of elderly people's from Seshego hosted a fun walk from Seshego Circle Centrr to Savannah Mall recently as part of Youth Day celebrations.

POLOKWANE – The aim of the fun walk was to encourage the elderly to keep fit by exercising.
According to the organiser of the fun walk, Louisa Motana, the main aim of the event was to promote exercise and healthy living among the elderly. “The fun walk was more than a walk. It was an opportune time for us to be together and spend the day exercising.”

She added that everyone needs to be healthy in order to be at their best when at work or doing their daily chores. “Some diseases can be avoided just by keeping healthy, therefore we encourage elderly people to exercise. We promote healthy living,” says Motana.

Fellow organiser, Kana Mathebula said the aim of the fun walk was to keep older people healthy and fit. “The fun walk was also a platform for our elderly people to network and share their life experiences. Elderly people are not excising enough and that is why they are prone to illnesses,” said Mathebula.
