Practice, practice and more practice says top learner

Comprehensive High School's top Gr 12 learner attributes her good performance to continuous practice.

POLOKWANE – Rivoningo Ndhukula is Flora Park Comprehensive High School’s top Gr 12 learner for the second term.

The 17-year-old attributes her good performance to continuous practice. She shared that mathematics is her favourite subject and she excels in it.

For Rivoningo, being the top learner comes with positive pressure because it encourages her to study harder. “I do feel the pressure because there are some learners who are aiming for this position but it also serves as encouragement for me to just work harder,” she said.

Her secret to doing well in school is taking the time to practice for subjects like mathematics and physical science. For subjects such as life sciences and geography, she uses the textbook and study guides.

“I have found that trying to summarise the information in my own words helps me to remember, because then I am not cramming, I understand what I am doing,” she added.

Her life is not all work and no play, she gives herself time off to refresh and, in that space, to create TikTok videos. Rivoningo plans to study dental surgery or radiography as a second choice. Her message to her fellow learners is that they must take their academics seriously in order to achieve good results at the end of the year.
