Cheers to matric with Carling Black Label

The Carling Black Label Class of Its Own initiative will assist the 'champion' men of South Africa further their education and take control of their futures, says Mapula Hadebe, Carling Black Label Brand Manager.

Carling Black Label through its Class of Its Own initiative is giving men of all ages, who might have given up school and did not complete matric, an opportunity to go back to school and complete their higher certificate.

Mapula Hadebe, Carling Black Label Brand Manager said they partnered with College South Africa to ensure that South African men can finish matric. “The Carling Black Label brand’s purpose and our authentic approach to corporate social investment has always been about empowering men. This initiative will help in dealing with unemployment rates.”

She added that for many decades the brand has been proud to motivate and reward the champion men of South Africa with Africa’s most award-winning beer.

“We believe that champion men lead to a better society for everyone. Men who are driven to work hard, who believe in themselves are men with gold inside. However, these champions don’t always have the skills to express their will. We want to acknowledge these men and all those who take charge of their destiny no matter what life throws at them. One way of doing this is through education, learning new skills so you can become the champion you have inside.”

She said that more than nine million men in South Africa over the age of 20 don’t have a matric certificate. “A matric certificate is seen by many employers and tertiary institutes as a basic requirement. So getting a matric certificate not only opens job opportunities that were previously out of reach, but also allows them to further their education and take control of their future.”
