Drummies put their best foot forward in round 1

The first round of the Limpopo Drum Majorettes Association Development Competition was recently hosted at three venues in the city simultaneously, allowing the teams to show off the hard work of their training.

POLOKWANE – The performances took place in safari mode and started at Jabez Christian Academy, from where the judges moved to Pietersburg Comprehensive School where the newly established Eagles Group also took part. The final performance was at Nirvana Primary School.

Jabez Christian Academy Principal, Elana Erasmus explained that the next round will be held in August if Covid-19 protocol allows.

Further competitions are scheduled for September and will culminate in the provincial and national finals later this year and that the event will be hosted in virtual format.

“The first rounds only comprise non-props and flags, but as the level of the performances advances, small drill, mace and baton items will be added and the finals will include large drill,” Erasmus said.
