A run secures PHS victory

The Hoërskool Pietersburg (PHS) cricket team won their match against NkowaNkowa Cricket Academy with one run during their second match of the Super League played at PHS on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – PHS posted 325 runs while NkowaNkowa managed to secure 324 runs in their 50 overs.

PHS batsmen, Zander Quin and Jan Grobler were the heroes of the day after they both scored centuries. Zander scored 162 runs from 88 balls while Jan registered 100 runs from 140 balls.

Coach Corné Craig said they are proud of the team’s effort. “Credit must go to the entire team. The players played well throughout the match.

They batted and fielded well and that is what we need in order to do well in the league,” Graig said.

He said they hope to repeat their great effort against Hoërskool Ben Vorster on September 11 in Tzaneen. “They are good and tough opponents. We won against them in our previous match and we aim to do the same this time around.”
