Taxila debaters take home the Lim Schools Debating cup

Taxila Secondary School's debate team claimed victory during the Limpopo Schools Debating Association's (LSDA) annual competition hosted at Mitchell House on September 4.

POLOKWANE – The association aims to grow debate among learners throughout the province and facilitates leagues in various parts of the province in collaboration with teachers and the community.

The annual provincial championships cap the efforts of teachers and debaters that have worked really hard throughout the year.

All the debates took place in English and each school submitted a delegation of three to four eligible learners to debate social, moral and current issues at the tournament.

Taxila Secondary School’s senior team came second and four of their learners were selected to represent the school in the province in the upcoming national debate tournament.

Natasha Gurure won best speaker for the competition and Raeesa Bhikhoo bagged first runner-up in the hall of fame’s junior category.
