POLOKWANE – Laerskool Ivy Park recently hosted an anti-bullying campaign that coincided with the Mr and Miss Ivy Park pageant.
Event organiser and assistant teacher Rebotile Rapola said the campaign aimed to create awareness about bullying and they wanted to uproot any form of bullying and prevent it from happening at the school.
“We are fortunate because bullying is not rife at our school. We have put measures in place to ensure it does rear its ugly head. We don’t want it at our school because it affects learners in a bad way and creates low self esteem.”
The pageant, she said, gave learners at the school a chance to showcase their modelling and public speaking capabilities and Mafenya Mako and Kaiso Matsi were respectively crowned the inaugural winners of the event.
Rapola stressed that with the event they wanted to inculcate self-confidence amongst learners and sharpen their public speaking skills. “They did well throughout the pageant and we wish them all the best in their incumbency and reign.”
