Chiefs crush Supersport United in Carling Black Label Cup

Kaizer Chiefs dominated Supersport United at Peter Mokaba Sports Complex, advancing to the Carling Black Label Cup quarter-finals.

LIMPOPO – Kaizer Chiefs delivered an impressive, winning performance, defeating Supersport United 4-1 in the last 16 of the Carling Black Label Cup at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex on Saturday evening.

From the start, Chiefs showcased entertaining football, while Supersport struggled, especially in midfield, where hesitation prevented them from effectively supporting their forwards.

Despite some promising movements initiated from the centre, United’s attempts were thwarted by the solid defence of Chiefs.

The breakthrough came in the 36th minute when Gaston Sirino navigated through United’s defence to score from close range.

Sirino struck again in the 55th minute, extending Chiefs’ lead to 2-0. Although United’s key midfielder Neo Rampo received a card in the 64th minute, they remained determined to fight back.

Chiefs continued to press forward, creating more scoring opportunities. Ranga Chivaviro attempted a powerful volley from outside the penalty box, which found the net, bringing the half-time score to 3-0.

In the second half, United missed two clear chances to get back into the match.

Terrence Dzvukamanja shot wide from close range after a precise pass from Gape Moralo in the 74th minute.

Just three minutes later, Vincent Pule squandered another opportunity with a poorly aimed shot from outside the box.

The final goal of the match came late from Ashley du Preez.

With this victory, Kaizer Chiefs are set to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarter-finals, with the date and venue to be determined.
