Polokwane educational therapist highlights the value of school trips
Nthabiseng Masemola discusses the benefits of school trips, pointing out their role in both learning and personal growth for learners.

POLOKWANE – Educational therapist Nthabiseng Masemola shares why school trips hold so much value, not just for education but for personal growth too.
“School trips are the memories we all cherish from our school days,” she explains. “They’re more than just a break from routine – they bring learning to life in ways that textbooks can’t. For many learners, these trips offer experiences they might never have had otherwise.”
She highlights several benefits of school trips, saying they boost independence and confidence, push children out of their comfort zones, and offer a fresh perspective on the world. “Trips make classroom topics feel new and exciting. They’re not just about academics; they’re powerful tools for personal growth,” she added.
Masemola said learners gain practical skills through these experiences. “Being away from home teaches them to manage their time, navigate new places, and even handle their own budgets. These are life skills that classrooms simply can’t replicate.”
Overnight trips, in particular, stand out as pivotal moments for many learners. “They provide a safe and encouraging space for children to step into independence. Even the shyest learners often find their voice when they step out of the familiar classroom environment.”
