[WATCH] Joyous send-off for top cop Nneke Ledwaba

Various SAPS officials bid farewell to Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba, with a parade through the Polokwane CBD.

POLOKWANE – The city was painted a proverbial blue today as high-ranking SAPS officials from across the province met at SABC Park this morning.

Various units of the police force gathered as officials joined in a parade to bid Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba farewell.

Ledwaba, who joined the force in 1984 took over as provincial commissioner in May 2016, will officially retire on Friday, 30 April.

The entourage, which included the SAPS’ Long Walk and Mounted units, made their way down Landdros Maré Street, up Bodenstein Street, down Voortrekker Street until they arrived at Laerskool Pietersburg Noord Primary for the formal proceedings. 

A sounding send-off it was indeed as residents came out their houses to cheer and bid farewell to the long-serving official. Some residents joined in the parade, singing and dancing all the way to Noordskool.
