Ring in the new year with a delicious mocktail

POLOKWANE – A light and refreshing mocktail dedicated to the new year for the body and mind.

Whether you indoors or not, the idea of a mocktail on new years’ can be a great treat for a social day out or a night in for you and your friends.

Bartender Charle Mmeshi shares a recipe for a quick and tasty non-alcoholic drink called ‘Mild Heartbreak’.

He says mocktails are not only for those who do not drink but are also perfect for moments when you want to have a fun drink that will not leave you with a hangover the next day.

Ingredients:
Orange Juice
Schweppes lemonade/Indian tonic water or Sparkling water
Dry grapefruit

How to make it:
1. Prepare the juice
You can juice your own oranges or simply buy juice from the store. When juicing your oranges make sure you use a juicer to ensure that the oranges are perfectly juiced. You can make five oranges for a cup depending on how big your oranges are.
2. Fill glasses
Start with two glasses filled with ice, add a slice of the dry grapefruit and top it off with a 1/4 cup of sparkling water/Indian tonic or lemonade.
3. Stir and enjoy!

Now that the mocktail is ready to serve, stir for extra sweetness or add a sprig of fresh mint if have on hand.
