Polokwane police crack down on another drug dealer in Bendor

The man's arrest brings the total number of drug dealers arrested in the Bendor area to three in two months, while a drug lab was also uncovered in the city in May. 

POLOKWANE – A 47-year-old man is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court this morning (June 9) on charges of unlawful possession and dealing in illicit drugs.

The man was arrested on Wednesday (June 7) by the Provincial Organized Crime Investigation Unit and other stakeholders in the Bendor area.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the unit received and followed up on information from a source about a suspect selling drugs at a tavern in Ladanna.

“The suspect was closely monitored and when he drove away in a white sedan, he was followed. Police pounced on him while waiting for a gate to open at a complex in Bendor,” his statement read.

Ledwaba said the vehicle was searched and 27 sachets of crystal meth, rock and CAT with an estimated value of R500 000 was confiscated as well as the vehicle.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the arrest and members for their concerted effort and dedication in ridding the province of illicit drugs and saving lives.
