LIMPOPO – It is that time of the year where everyone deserves a little bit of joy and festive celebrations. The Park Hotel took that opportunity to give back to the community.
They hosted on Monday, December 18, a Christmas lunch for 35 learners of the Progress kids early learning and inclusive centre.
The day was about hosting children with special needs, orphans and children that are living under poverty a Christmas lunch, and also to show them that they are loved as part of their society.
The centre’s main objective is to provide a holistic education to children with disabilities and those without disabilities in a way that will lay a good foundation to them.
The centre prepares these children for school and accommodates the children with special needs in the education system from 13 years of age.
The centre also ensures that throughout the process, a continuous assessment is conducted to check the abilities of the child until the child is 13 years. The children are then placed in a place with suitable educational institutions to further their studies.
Those that are challenged intellectually are also placed with institutions that offer skills programme that will help them to be self-sustainable in the future.
The future plans for the centre is, to have a conducive building where they will be able to accommodate these children until they graduate and get employment.
The centre also offering a aftercare class from Gr.R – Gr.12, all their aftercare students are doing very well and have all passed their grades.
“To all the parents that have supported us throughout 2023 and those who have contributed in making all events of the centre successful, I would like to pass my sincere thank you and wish a prosperous happy Christmas,” said Julia Cossa, owner of the centre.
