Manhunt underway after discovery of woman’s body

The deceased was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Police are searching for those responsible for the brutal murder of Eunice Masemola.

The 31 year-old Masemola’s body was found at a gravel road at Rita in the Sebayeng policing area on Sunday.

A police report indicated that the victim left her place of residence in Khwezi Street, Thornhill Park at around 17:00 using an e-hailing service, but never returned home.

She reported going into the city to those who were close to her, the report indicated. Masemola was then reported missing at the local police station on Monday.

It was on the same Sunday at about 21:45, that police in Sebayeng discovered the body of an unknown woman.

The deceased was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, dressed in black trousers and a black T-shirt with peach-coloured sandals.

A murder case was opened, and police investigations commenced while locating her family.

On Tuesday, the police managed to locate the family of the deceased who positively identified her.

The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage, and a manhunt for the suspects is underway.

Acting provincial police commissioner Major Genl Jan Scheepers condemned the incident and encouraged the community to assist police with any information relating to the murder.
