Ivypark learner crowned International Miss South Africa

Mosholadi Maubane, a Gr 6 learner at Laerskool Ivypark, has been crowned International Miss South Africa 2026/27 in the pre-teen category.

POLOKWANE – Laerskool Ivypark Gr 6 learner Mosholadi Maubane (12) is flying the Limpopo flag high after being crowned International Miss South Africa 2026/27 in the pre-teen category.

She was also recently elected as a 2027 prefect for her school.

Originally from Lebowakgomo, Maubane won the national title at the pageant held at Vodaworld in Midrand, Gauteng on September 26.

Family support

Maubane travelled to Gauteng on September 22, accompanied by her mom, Unity, and her sister, Lesedi, for moral support. After a few days, the rest of her family also joined to cheer her on.

“I started partaking in pageants in 2023,” she said.

Not her first title

Winning a queen title is not new to Maubane, as she has previously won:

  • Miss Inspirational Teen South Africa 2025
  • Miss Luminary 2024

Both were in the pre-teen categories.

Off to Denver, Colorado

Speaking about the moment she was announced as winner, Maubane told Review that her family was overjoyed.

“My parents were very happy that I was working hard. They were also happy that everything they’ve put into the pageant journey was all worth it. They were happy to see my reaction.”

She added that the latest title means she has now qualified to represent South Africa in the international competition in the pre-teen category, which will take place in Denver, Colorado in the US around June next year.

Giving back through the Shola Foundation

Beyond the runway, Maubane is passionate about giving back. She dedicates her time to charity work through the Shola Foundation, which gives back to communities in Limpopo.

“Before winning this title, I went to schools to do motivational talks to encourage and empower young girls and boys. I also visited schools to donate school shoes and uniforms,” Maubane said.

Through her foundation, she added that she also visited homes around her community where she motivated young girls not to be ashamed of not being able to afford sanitary towels.

Maubane has also donated pre-loved clothes and food parcels to underprivileged individuals in her community.

School congratulates her

Laerskool Ivypark principal Annette Grobbelaar and deputy principal Suné Swart proudly congratulated Mosholadi for her dedication and win, and also for representing the school and province, and soon to represent the country.

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
