UL Geology student delves into love’s complexities in new book

Judgement Moela's latest book addresses themes of change, unconditional love, human resilience, and triumph, urging readers to embrace the diversity inherent in modern relationships.

POLOKWANE – Judgement Moela, a Geology Honours student at the University of Limpopo (UL), has authored not one, but two compelling books exploring themes ranging from polygamous marriages to academic perseverance and interracial love.

His latest book ‘The Great Same Affection’ intricately delves into the complexities of love and acceptance within the context of a polygamous relationship involving individuals of different
races.

The narrative revolves around Jonathan, a young man entangled in affection for two women, defying societal norms and expectations.

Through Jonathan’s  journey, Moela addresses themes of change, unconditional love, human resilience, and triumph, urging readers to embrace the diversity inherent in modern relationships.

Inspired by his maternal grandfather, who embraced a polygamous lifestyle within the Pedi culture, Moela endevours to bridge cultural chasms and ignite dialogues about acceptance and empathy.

’The Great Same Affection’ serves as a tribute to my late grandfather, spotlighting his earnest subscription the ancient Pedi practices stupendously capturing profound love for his spouses,Moela explained.

He aims to contextualise these themes in an unconventional setting, challenging readers to reassess their preconceptions.

Released in 2023, ‘The Great Same Affection’ has swiftly captured attention for its bold narrative and thought-provoking discourse, compelling readers to confront their biases and prejudices head-on.

However, Moela is not new to the world of literature, having published his debut literary work back in 2022.

His debut novel, ‘Finding My Feet’, released in November 2022 offers an introspective exploration of self-discovery and academic perseverance.

Set against the backdrop of university life, the story follows Jayden, a young man navigating the hurdles of higher education while grappling with his aspirations and desires.

‘Finding My Feet’ mirrors Moela’s personal journey through academia and self-discovery.

He aims to provide readers insights into the challenges and triumphs of pursuing dreams, coupled with practical advice for navigating the complexities of university life.

As a creative writer, critical thinker, and an avid reader, Moela’s passion for storytelling resonates vividly in both of his novels.
