Shootout ensues between armed robbers and victim at Savannah Mall

Details have emerged about the armed robbery at Savannah Mall on Monday morning that resulted in the suspects making off with a substantial amount of money.

POLOKWANE – The police in Polokwane have launched a manhunt for two male suspects for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery at Savannah Mall this morning.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says a 48-year-old victim left Limpopo Cash and Carry with the aim of depositing a substantial amount of cash at the mall.

“Upon his arrival at the entrance of the mall, the victim was confronted by two unknown males in possession of firearms. One of the suspects shot the victim in the right foot and he threw the money bag on the floor,” his statement read.

The other suspect picked up the bag and ran away before the victim took out his licensed firearm and fired several shots at the suspects who fired back while running to their getaway vehicle.

“The duo managed to flee the scene with a substantial amount of cash while driving in a white Hyundai SUV motor vehicle.
