Primary school in Seshego off to robotic challenge in Gqeberha

Mashupye Tladi Primary School will be representing Limpopo in the Sita Robotic Challenge, to be held in Port Elizabeth.

POLOKWANE – In an era where technology is rapidly advancing, learners at Mashupye Tladi Primary School are embracing the future with enthusiasm.

The school is proudly representing Limpopo in the prestigious Sita Robotic Challenge, to be held in Port Elizabeth from June 24-27.

Mashupye Tladi Primary is among the top 10 schools in South Africa selected for this competition, and stands out as the sole representative from the province. This remarkable achievement comes shortly after the school introduced coding and robotics into its curriculum.

Principal Evodia Kgomo expressed delight at the school’s inclusion in such a significant event, particularly given their recent foray into these technological fields.

“It is a dream come true for me. I’ve always aspired to lead a school that pioneers innovative projects,” Kgomo stated.

Ahead of the competition, the school hosted a showcase on June 8, allowing learners to demonstrate their newfound skills to the Department of Basic Education and their parents.

The event highlighted the creativity and innovation fostered through coding and robotics, emphasising the development of solutions to real-world problems. This discipline encourages learners to think outside the box and step out of their comfort zones.

During their presentations, learners emphasised that robotics helps them explore new skills and ideas while enjoying the collaborative process.

They believe that teamwork is essential to success, encapsulated in their motto, “teamwork makes the dream work”.

As Mashupye Tladi Primary School prepares to compete on the national stage, it continues to inspire and elevate the standards of technological education in the province.
