Breakthrough in Thornhill gym murder case with man’s arrest

The man accused of gunning down funeral parlour executive Jacky Ramogale in the Thornhill gym parking lot in January has been arrested.

POLOKWANE – The Police in Polokwane say their investigations into the murder of Jacky Ramogale (40) can lead to the arrest of more suspects.

This follows the arrest of 44-year-old Mabu Mailula last Friday in connection with Ramogale’s murder on January 30.

Mailula faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder and murder and was remanded in custody when he appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Ramogale was gunned down in the parking lot of a gym at the Thornhill Shopping Centre and was an executive member of a well-known funeral parlour.

“At the time of the incident, the police reacted to a shooting incident and found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds to the neck,” Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.

He added that the motive for the killing is unknown and that Mailula will next appear on July 22 for profiling and possible bail application.
