Polokwane Victim Empowerment Centre and SAPS bring joy to New Horizon Special School learners on Mandela Day through fun activities and gifts.

POLOKWANE – On Mandela Day, the Polokwane Victim Empowerment Centre in collaboration with the Polokwane SAPS, brought joy and fun to the learners at New Horizon Special School.

The day was filled with playful activities, including skipping ropes, hoola hoops, knitting, and beadwork, as the visitors engaged with the learners.

Robinson Phooko, the principal of New Horizon Special School, highlighted Nelson Mandela’s legacy of charity and global impact.

“Mandela’s call for doing good extends beyond South Africa to the entire world. We are grateful to Polokwane Victim Empowerment Centre and the Polokwane police for showing that the children of New Horizon also deserve happiness. Your visit and the toys you brought have truly made a difference,” Phooko said.

Warrent Officer Valerie Maloba emphasised the importance of spending Mandela Day with the learners.

She noted that the goodies and activities were intended to bring joy to the learners, who were divided into four groups.

The event was a heartwarming reminder of Mandela’s enduring legacy and the power of community support.
