Book club hosts educational event for kids in Polokwane

The Finding Me Book Club hosts fun-filled literacy and agriculture event, rewarding kids with certificates and medals for hands-on activities.

POLOKWANE – The Finding Me Book Club for kids, in collaboration with Selinah the Goat Book, hosted a successful educational event on Saturday, promoting literacy and agriculture.

Held at Cornu Coffee and Gift Shop at Kurumba Lodge in Polokwane, the event drew children and their parents for a day of enriching activities.

Under the theme ‘Literacy and Agriculture’, those present enjoyed a range of activities including outdoor play with educational toys, story time and engaging sessions with a guest author.

The event also featured a skills workshop on organic lip balm and soap making. Children who participated in these various projects were rewarded with certificates and medals for their efforts.

Nthabiseng Chauke, the founder of the Finding Me Book Club and one of the event organisers, along with her team Violet Mahada, Omphemetse Munyai, and Selinah-Khutso Ntjana, highlighted the benefits of such events.

“The children enjoyed outdoor activities, took a break from screen time, and experienced something new. Adults also had the opportunity to engage in activities and bond with their children,” Chauke said.

Chauke mentioned that this was the first event of its kind for the book club and they plan to host similar events quarterly during school holidays, including virtual engagements.

Interested parents who wish to enrol their children in the Finding Me Book Club can contact Nthabiseng Chauke via WhatsApp at 066 149 7174.
