Polokwane’s classic car enthusiasts unite for men’s health

Polokwane's vintage car enthusiasts join forces for Movember, supporting prostate cancer research and men's mental health.

POLOKWANE – Classic car enthusiasts can look forward to a feast for the eye when a selection of cars pre 1984 will take part in a drive around the city on Sunday morning.

According to the convenor of the event, Gustaf Tiersma, the cars will be on view at Hennie’s restaurant at the Thornhill Shopping Centre for about an hour around 10:30.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive is a celebration of classic style.

Founded in 2021, this drive is an on-road motoring event, uniting classic cars built 40 years or older, designed to encourage enthusiasts and vintage car owners around the world to dress dapper and drive for men’s health.

“Money raised by the Distinguished Gentlefolk support our charity partner, Movember and these funds are invested in vital research and programmes for prostate cancer and men’s mental health to support the wellbeing of men all around the world,” Tiersma says.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive is a themed event, where drivers and their passengers dress dapper to complement the elegant design of their vehicles.

Over the past 13 years, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has established itself as the largest motorcycle charity event in the world, raising over $50m for men’s health.

The public can sponsor the event.
