Stolen Adidas shoes confiscated by Limpopo police near Musina

Two foreign nationals were arrested after the police searched a hijacked truck at a wholesale supermarket in Musina.

LIMPOPO – The provincial organised crime investigation unit in collaboration with a logistics company from Gauteng successfully tracked down a hijacked vehicle transporting Adidas shoes worth millions.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said two foreign males, aged 32 and 50, were arrested last Friday (October 18) on charges of possession of suspected stolen property.

“The team acted on intelligence regarding a truck that was hijacked in the Putfontein area in Gauteng in September. A search was conducted at a wholesale supermarket in Musina, resulting in the recovery of 85 pairs of shoes valued at R60k,” Ledwaba said.

He added that the suspects were arrested at the scene after failing to provide satisfactory explanations for their possession of the items.

“The duo will appear before the Musina Magistrate’s Court today. Anyone with information regarding the incident or other suspects involved should contact the crime stop number on 08600 10111, the nearest police station, or use the MySAPSApp.

The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe welcomed the arrests, commending the coordinated operation and urging investigators to continue pursuing all leads until all suspects are apprehended.
