Polokwane youth leader celebrates birthday by giving back
RIGN chair Mahlogonolo Mothapo celebrates 21st birthday with charity week, donating food and clothing to needy.
POLOKWANE – Mahlogonolo Mokgadi Mothapo (20) chairperson of Re Itukisheditse Go Neela (RIGN), is redefining the meaning of her 21st birthday.
Founded in 2022 by a group of passionate teenagers, RIGN aims to create a fair and balanced society by supporting vulnerable individuals, especially young people in need.
“Our mission is to empower others to live fulfilling lives free from disparity and disadvantage, bridging the gap between privilege and hardship,” said Mahlogonolo.
Through its initiatives, RIGN fosters community, equality, and hope, ensuring access to opportunities for all.
Reflecting on her work with the non-profit, Mahlogonolo emphasised the impact of RIGN’s Pad Project, calling it a beacon of hope.
“Seeing the joy it brought to beneficiaries was heartwarming and fuelled my passion to continue making a difference.”
Looking ahead to 2025, she shared that RIGN has ambitious plans for educational workshops and outreach programmes to deepen its impact in the community.
To mark her 21st birthday in December, Mahlogonolo is spearheading a charity week from December 13-17 to donate food and clothing to the needy.
“Instead of a lavish celebration, I want to share joy by giving back. Anyone willing to lend a hand with food and clothing supplies is welcome to join.”
