Seshego makeup artist turns beauty school owner

Seshego makeup artist Francina Kgopa's Glamour School of Beauty empowers women, graduates over 100 students.

POLOKWANE – Mokadi Francina Kgopa, a 27-year-old makeup artist from Seshego Zone 2 with over six years of experience, has taken her passion to new heights by founding the Glamour School of Beauty.

Her school is dedicated to empowering aspiring beauty professionals, especially women seeking to follow in her footsteps.

Kgopa’s journey began with a love for beautiful, colorful things.

“I fell in love with makeup because I enjoyed seeing women look more beautiful. That passion motivated me to take makeup seriously.” Despite challenges like funding shortages and delayed payments, Kgopa remained committed to her dream.

Her school has also grown steadily over the past six years, with its first classes starting in 2018. “Back then, I had fewer than 10 students, but I was grateful. My business is growing, and I’m receiving great support from other women,” she said.

In June, the school celebrated the graduation of 11 students from its Seshego and Mokopane branches, along with 14 students from Lebowakgomo, a branch that has since closed. “We’ve taught more than 100 students so far, although some only collected their certificates after the graduation ceremonies,” she added.

Kgopa expressed her gratitude for partnerships with several NPOs and organisations such as Nacosa and Future Families, which helped her school thrive. “These collaborations made my dream come true – empowering unemployed youth,” she emphasised.

Looking toward the future, Kgopa’s goal is to expand her school with branches nationwide. She encourages aspiring makeup artists to start with what they have and trust the process. “The key is to start and watch yourself grow gracefully. You’ll fall, but each time, you’ll rise stronger,” she advised.

With her passion, resilience, and vision, Kgopa continues to inspire and uplift others, making a lasting impact in the beauty industry and beyond.
