From Seshego to the spotlight: Lethabo ‘Lejoy’ Mathatho
Mathatho shines as media personality, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, inspiring others through her Lejoy Tea brand and community efforts.
POLOKWANE – Born in the streets of Seshego Zone 1, Lethabo ‘Lejoy’ Mathatho is a prominent South African media personality, businesswoman, and philanthropist.
She began her career in radio in 2006 and has since made significant strides in the media industry and beyond.
Mathatho’s unique talent and vibrant personality have captured the hearts of audiences across South Africa, Africa, and around the world.
Currently, she owns a tea brand called Lejoy Tea, featuring three distinct ranges: a mommy detox herbal tea free of chemicals and artificial substances that supports colon cleansing; a relaxation tea made with ganoderma lucidum mushroom that offers various health benefits, including stress reduction; and an immune booster tea powered by ginseng, known for enhancing energy and mental alertness.
“I’m proud of my achievements, and all our tea ranges have received positive feedback from those who have tasted them. Imagine drinking tea that tastes great while benefitting your body and well-being,” Mathatho shared.
Mathatho’s journey has taken her from radio to television, solidifying her status as a well-known star. With 17 years of experience in radio as an on-air personality, producer, host, and deputy news editor, she has worked at various stations, including Jacaranda FM, Capricorn FM, GT FM, and Thobela FM (SABC).
In 2019, Lejoy gained reality star status as a cast member on the Real Housewives of Johannesburg (Season 2 and 3), becoming a talked-about figure for her relatable story and bravery.
From 2020 to 2021, she hosted a 13-part series on Mzansi Magic that addressed issues affecting children and their sense of belonging, titled ‘Ingane Yam’.
Additionally, she produced the current affairs show ‘Leihlo la Sechaba’ on SABC 2, where she currently serves as the main host.
Mathatho is also the owner and founder of Making Models with Lejoy and the Lejoy Foundation, further showcasing her commitment to empowering others and making a positive impact in her community.
