Cappies hosts matric prize-giving ceremony

Capricorn High School honours top matric achievers in prize-giving ceremony that recognised learners' outstanding academic achievement.

POLOKWANE – Capricorn High School hosted its matric prize-giving ceremony in the school hall last Tuesday, recognising learners for their outstanding academic achievements over the past three terms.

The event started with performances from the school choir and individual learners.

Parents attended in large numbers, proud to witness their children being awarded certificates and trophies for their hard work throughout the year.

The ceremony started with learners receiving a single merit certificate, followed by those who earned two or more.

Subject-specific awards were presented alongside recognition for learners who excelled in sport, debate and other school activities.

The top academic learner, Dawn Dikgale, was honoured with multiple certificates and two trophies for her exceptional performance.

In her speech, she encouraged her peers. “Class of 2024, hard work doesn’t end here. We still have exams to prepare for. I would also like to wish everyone the best of luck in the final exams and urge them to include God in every step of the way. Congratulations to all certificate recipients, and for those who didn’t receive one, it’s not too late – let’s keep working hard.”

The event concluded with the announcement of the matric board for 2025, including key leadership positions such as the captain, RCL president and vice-president, treasurer, secretary and vice-secretary, and hostel captain.
