Polokwane water supply disruption

Residents are advised to prepare for water disruptions as an Eskom power outage impacts pumping from the Olifantspoort Water Treatment Works.

POLOKWANE – Residents can expect water supply disruptions across all areas in Polokwane due to an Eskom power interruption.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says that the municipality received communication from Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) stating that the outage has affected their ability to pump water from Pump Station 3, which supplies water from the Olifantspoort Water Treatment Works.

This disruption comes amid attempts to recover water levels and may further delay full restoration efforts.

LNW, in its media statement, says “Eskom was attending to the issue at its Eerstegoud substation, and no estimated restoration time has been provided”.

“Polokwane Municipality requests residents’ understanding and patience as the municipality monitors the situation closely and coordinates with LNW. Updates will be
provided as soon as further information becomes available,” says Selala.
