Matshepo Mapiti: I have mixed emotions about leaving my school, I'm excited, nervous and sad at the same time. There's a lot of people that I will miss, most of my friends will not be in the same school as me and that won't be nice. But overall I'm happy to meet, socialise and interact with new people. I will miss my teachers, friends and I will miss my time as being a prefect as it was very enjoyable.
POLOKWANE – The transition from primary school to high school is a significant milestone for Grade 7 learners.
This change often brings a mix of excitement, anxiety, sadness, and nervousness as students learn to adapt to a new environment, meet academic expectations, and navigate social dynamics.
During this time, learners experience a variety of emotions as they connect with new people, take on greater challenges, and discover new concepts at a higher level.
Learners told Review/Observer their feelings about the transition of school next year:
Xihlamariso Mashau: I am excited to go to a new school because I get a chance to start afresh but at the same time I’m so nervous to go to a school where I don’t know anyone.Vhusai Nthambeleni: I am excited to go to a new school next year, I feel like the change of environment will be quiet good because because I’ll meet new people but at the same time I will miss my current environment. I already associated myself with this certain group in my school and now I have to make new friends which is very difficult for me.Keneilwe Moremi: I am a little bit excited about going to a new school and see new opportunities out there. I feel sad that I’m leaving away good memories but I realised that change is different but good at the same time. I am thankful for the opportunity of going to a high school and for being in primary that I’m in now.Ananda Tshivhidzo: Next year I’m going to Noorderland High School and it will be a good accomplishment because it is a good high school.
