Limpopo police sergeant’s murder linked to missing boyfriend

The Rooiberg Police Sergeant returned home on Saturday night with her boyfriend before her body was discovered by her grandson (6) the following morning.

LIMPOPO – The provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered the police to track and trace the suspect involved in the alleged attack and murder of a female police sergeant (47) from the Waterberg District.

The victim, who is attached to the Rooiberg Police Station in the Waterberg District, is said to have returned home on Saturday night (January 25) with her boyfriend before her body was discovered by her grandson (6) the following morning.

The boyfriend and the sergeant’s vehicle were missing.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says neighbours reported the matter to the police and emergency services declared the victim dead on the scene.

“The sergeant’s private vehicle was discovered abandoned about 50km from her home along the Thabazimbi Road near Koedoeskop,” his statement read.

Ledwaba added that the motive behind the murder remains unclear, although domestic violence cannot be ruled out at this stage.

Hadebe condemned the incident and has directed the police to mobilise all available resources to locate and apprehend the suspect.

The police are appealing to Ben Molefe Malebye (43) to come forward to the nearest police station, as he may possess critical information that could assist in resolving the case.
