WATCH: Brazen armed robbery in Polokwane CBD

Four suspects attacked two men on Church Street in a brazen armed robbery in the Polokwane CBD last week.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane police said they will intensify patrols at various challenge areas in the CBD following a brazen armed robbery on Church Street last Thursday (January 30).

In CCTV footage posted on the Suburban Control Centre Facebook page, two men can be seen walking down a busy street in the CBD when they are approached by four armed men who attack them both with weapons and take their personal belongings.

Once the items were robbed, the suspects walk away while the victims and passersby watch on in shock.

The Polokwane police spokesperson Captain Lesiba Ramoshaba confirmed the incident to the Polokwane Review-Observer and said they are investigating a case of robbery with a firearm.

“The investigation follows an incident along Church Street in which a 45-year-old man and his brother-in-law were confronted by four unknown male suspects. The suspects produced a firearm and robbed the victims of cellphones, a bank card and cash,” he said.

Ramoshaba appealed to anyone who witnesses a crime in Polokwane to contact the Community Service Centre on 079 889 5794 or the Detectives’s Crime Office on 082 729 0083.

“No arrests have been made for this robbery as yet and anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Joseph Malebana on 072 492 9635.”
