Mankweng man abandons bail in stepdaughter’s murder case

Malesela Andrew Mehlape also faces charges of premeditated murder, intimidation and arson for allegedly having stabbed his stepdaughter on March 14.

POLOKWANE – The Mankweng Magistrate’s Court has postponed the murder case involving Malesela Andrew Mehlape (48).

The accused abandoned his bail application on Monday during his second appearance following profiling and the matter was postponed to June 6 while he remained in custody.

He also faces charges of premeditated murder, intimidation and arson for allegedly having stabbed his stepdaughter on March 14 in Ga-Thoka near Mankweng while she was walking to school.

Rebotile Moloto (14), a Gr 9 learner did not survive the incident, and was buried in Moletjie on Saturday.

Moloto’s uncle, David Marokane remarked that the incident has devastated them.

“Since the news of Rebotile broke, the whole family has been left traumatised and we are struggling to accept this.”
