Kidnapped Burgersfort family found on Modjadjiskloof farm

The Limpopo police found a kidnapped family of four on a farm just hours after suspects broke into their Burgersfort home and fled with them.

LIMPOPO – The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said the swift response from dedicated multi-disciplinary teams prevented potential harm to a kidnapped family of four, who were rescued in the early hours of yesterday morning (August 5).

According to the Limpopo police, a case of kidnapping was reported in Mareseleng village in the Burgersfort policing area after the family (a man, his wife and two minor children) were tied up and forced into their family vehicle.

“Preliminary investigations suggest three armed suspects, dressed in balaclavas, forcibly entered the victims’ residence and found the family sleeping in the same bedroom. They threatened the victims, tied them up and kidnapped them, fleeing the scene in the victim’s VW Polo hatchback,” the police spokesperson, Col Malesela Ledwaba said.

Prompt response and collaboration with a car tracking company led to the rescue of the family at around 06:00 on a farm in the Modjadjiskloof policing area.

They were unharmed.

Hadebe commended the teams, adding that their swift response disrupted the suspects’ plans.
